Nestled in the entrance to the beautiful Columbia River Gorge are the cities of Camas and Washougal, Washington. Just north of Portland across the Columbia River, and east of Vancouver is a scenic wonder. From the view of Mt. Hood on the drive east along Highway 14, to the winding Washougal River Road, the view is breathtaking. The Washougal River boasts one of the best Spring Chinook runs in the Pacific Northwest for fishing. There are many hiking options in the area, from Hamilton Mountain to Beacon Rock. There are many gorgeous waterfalls along the Columbia River Gorge, which boasts the highest concentration of waterfalls in North America. Whatever outdoor adventures you desire, Camas and Washougal are a short trip away from both the mountains and the Pacific Ocean. Skiing, snow boarding, snow-mobiling, surfing, wind-surfing, kayaking, white-water rafting, mountain biking, fishing, hiking, camping, and hunting are all enjoyed by residents of the Pacific Northwest.
If you prefer city attractions, Camas and Washougal are a short drive away from Portland, Oregon. Drive to the Moda Center to catch a Portland Trail Blazers basketball game within a half hour. Watch the Championship Portland Timbers play a Major League Soccer match, or the Portland Winterhawks play in the Western Junior Hockey League. If sports aren't your thing, Portland offers fine dining, Opera, theater, a world-class Symphony, and a thriving music scene.
As great as Portland is, Camas and Washougal both boast a lower average house price, and lower property taxes. Southwest Washington offers all of the amenities that can be found living in Portland, at a fraction of the cost and a lower crime rate.
